I recently checked my Blogtoplist rankings to find that this blog is doing quite well over there since I started it just about a month ago. So, I decided to see who’s at the top of the list and what they’re writing about. Much to my dismay, there seems to be an abundance of Atheist blogs posted in the Religion category. That in itself is a sad thing, but sadder still is a blog I found called Diary of a Teenage Atheist by an 18 year old female, from a Catholic family, living in a predominantly Catholic country ( she claims is Third World ), who has recently embraced the Atheist perspective and the “bundle” of misguided conceptions that go with it. Her blog has had 18,695 hits! (unfortunately, to write this, I have to be one of them).
Emblazoned on her blog is the scarlet letter “A”, not unlike Hester Prynne’s shameful letter for adultery, but this is a proud “A” for Atheist. This is a movement that seems to be insidiously creeping in on the net and taking over or ballasting erroneous notions in the minds of many. Fuelled by the likes of Richard Dawkins , ethiologist and evolutionist, writer Christopher Hitchens, and celebrity, talk-show host/comedian Bill Maher.
This troubled teen posts quotes of the month by various anti-God talking heads who spout venom and vindictiveness with every click of the keyboard. She does this proudly and unabashedly.
This teenage girl is Pro Choice, and a LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender) supporter. Her blog is festooned with banners for the Atheist blogroll and Planet Atheism.
I shake my head.
This girl (self-designated “TA”) has been graced by God with some real talent. She is an excellent writer, has had a good education and will no doubt have a good career ahead of her. It is unfortunate that she has made this choice and is determined to share it with others, thus imperiling the faith of other teens like herself and the vulnerable of all ages.
I don’t want to come across like a southern, bible-thumping fanatic, BUT, there is no question in my mind that this is the Devil at work. And make no mistake, he is thriving.
At age 17, in her introductory article TA posts a short, tragic chronology of her faith’s descent:
14 years of being a Roman Catholic. (17, really — I haven’t officially renounced my religion on documents and whatnot. Too lazy.)
3 years of flip-flopping between Catholicism and agnosticism.
This year, I’ve finally decided that there is no God.
What and whose influence could have entered this girl’s life to make her feel this way? Why would a teenage girl find such consolation in the words of someone like Bill Maher (she now considers him her God)????
It would appear that TA has been fed Atheistic propaganda by those who want to convert the misguided to their way of thinking. It doesn’t have to be physically handed to a young person, they find it on the web, in the newspapers, on television, everywhere!
From reading TA’s blog, it appears that the faith foundation that she was born into is a shaky one at best. In her post, “Dream College” she writes:
(Note that I’m on bad terms with both my verbally abusive father and my elitist, self-absorbed mother, so yeah, I’ve got nobody on my side. I hate this family.)
It seems evil has been operating under the guise of faith for some time here.
There is hope for this girl. Her choice of college is Jesuit-run. She has her own “tenets” of belief in her Atheistic practices and ironically, they reflect a belief she claims not to have:
” If you sin (be it by my standards or yours), you won’t go to hell when you die. But you will be an (expletive).
” I’m not a saint, and I do judge people, but only based on their actions.”
“I think atheists who condemn religious people for being “idiots” are just as bad as fundamentalists who condemn atheists for being “evil.”
So, in an attempt at cleverness, this young woman reveals an innate sense of what is true. That we can work with.
The title of this blog post is “Pray for the Teenage Atheist” and now I’m asking you to do just that. Remember this young woman in her struggle with the forces of malevolence and pray that her soul be saved and that she may go on to do good things for others in the knowledge that our Lord and His Father will redeem her.
Pray also for those young people under the influence of evil in all its forms and manifestations. We can beat the scarlet “A”.
When you think about it, how contradictory to use the “A” when that stands for the Alpha, the first letter of the Greek alphabet and the name of our God – who is the Beginning and the End. This is our beginning–the start of a crusade against the proponents of Atheism. Pray today. Pray right now.
On this upcoming Holy Week of our Lord Jesus Christ, pray for those who he came to save; and pray for the Teenage Atheist.
***If you feel similarly on this issue, please leave a comment. It’s important that we share our thoughts and come together as one. Thank you for caring enough to read this.***

Dude, it’s not like we’re evil people trying to dominate the world. We just examine the world closely, don’t take one persons word for fact but find stuff to back it up or not. We’re just your average teen, who volunteers at their local YMCA, are ahead in school, enjoy going to the movies with friends, and have a talent here and there. (Warning: Some deviation between teen atheists may occur)
I get the general impression that teen atheists are some seriouse issue or desease but we aren’t, we’re human being who are different from you, respect that as many of us respect you, even the Dairy of a Teenage Atheist. She is mad at her Catholic parents not at Catholics in general.

Hey people! Just thought I’d drop by I am a Christian Orthodox Teen and I decided to take a look at the site in question after reading this. I noticed something on the site that irritated me…
A lot of the atheists commenting on the site have had bad experiences with Christians after coming out about their atheism. A lot of them have been told they are going to Hell, and that Satan has a hold on them. I thought as Christians it was our job to help these people, not yell condemnations at them! As if telling an atheist that they’re going to Hell is going to make them listen to you!
(Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions) Proverbs 10:12
I have no doubt the Devil is absolutely loving the fact that it is often Christians who drive atheists further away from God.
If you look at TA, she has a real huge axe to grind when it comes to any Christian, you don’t need to go far into the blog to see that she has already had some pretty nasty encounters with Christians: namely her family. I would go as far as to say that her atheism might be an embodiment of her resentment of her family, not religion as a whole.
She is clearly a very intelligent person with a lot to say.
The only way for a person to come to truly know and believe in God is for them to meet Him and feel His love firsthand. That experience is what many Christians (including me) use to keep their faith alive.
Atheists have never had that experience. The only way to meet God is to ask Him to show Himself, and many Atheists who do this do it half-heartedly, because they don’t want to find God. And God gave us free-will, He will not force His way into anyone’s life. And so these people then say, “I asked for God, and He didn’t show.” If someone doesn’t want to know that God is real, they never will.
The situation is not helped when the only Christians they have encountered yelled and screamed damnation at them. They need to see some real Christians, full of love, humility and compassion.
Its not too late for TA, even though she actively preaches against the truth now, remember what happened to St, Paul? How he killed and tortured the early Christians, but only because he thought he was doing good? Jesus intervened then, and revealed the truth to Paul because there was a good person with a good-will inside. Likewise, I believe TA is a good person, she believes she is spreading the truth, and she does so even in the face of ridicule! That is something praiseworthy!
In the end, all we can do is pray, for God in His infinite wisdom to do what is right.

Thok te ti Gom,
If you’ve read the article, as you say you have, then you should have realized that I am not condemning the Teenage Atheist. Far from it! I recognize that her family has led her to this choice. I hold them responsible in fact.
I am asking for prayer and understanding, not fire and brimstone!
I have suggested to my readers (it’s in the title, by the way), that we Pray for this person that she may see the light and be guided by God.
I only have her best interests at heart.

Hey guys, i’m an orthodox christian teen, and am struggling with atheism beleifs right now. I have been going through all the things God has done for me and been proclaiming them as “normal” with “earthly reason.” I feel ashamed because I have gotten religious over the past six months and I have met God’s love, yet seem to be falling away from him, into a Neiztche like thing. I somewhat sympathize with this girl, seeing as she might have experianced something that I am going through, but GOD IS REAL! Please keep us both in your prayers. Feel free to email me at rafiki08540@yahoo.com

Without taking a stance here, could you please at least link to her blog if you are going to dedicate your post to it?

hello. i am a teenage atheist. i also come from a Catholic family (VERY Catholic actually – Colombians tend to be very strong believers). I am 17, i have been an atheist since the age of 16, and have been questioning religion since the age of 14. contrary to popular belief, i am a perfectly fine, functioning human being that does not need to be “saved” by anyone. while i’m not hostile against religious people, i do enjoy a good religious debate, and i have never heard a argument for theism strong enough to shake my disbelief. i think believers need to stop trying to convert nonbelievers – all it does is increase hostility, and does nothing to help the case of religion.

You’re blog is very touching, and you are obviously being very thoughtful…but she does not need any help. Apart from maybe feeling alone in a religious world.
I too am a teenage athiest, 14, and I am fine. I used to be religious and, believe it or not, I am happier being an athiest.

To my dear atheists young and old alike. As child of God and one who has felt the Love of God I am blessed. And fortunately for myself or anyone for that mater we’ll never be able to change what you believe or think on our own power or try to convince you there is a God even with all the documentations or existing famous atheists leaders going on record such as Anthony Flew. It just doesn’t mater, If a person opposes even the possibility of there being a God, then any evidence can be rationalized or explained away. Even now as scientists began to decode the human DNA molecule showing an exquisite ‘language’ composed of some 3 billion genetic letters. “One of the most extraordinary discoveries of the twentieth century, it just doesn’t mater and why, well because no amount of human information is ever going to change their thinking “Does God exist? They will say “NO” And you won’t ever be able to prove otherwise! Until now and the fact that this post is about “This Holy Week, pray for the Teenage Atheist” I will now take a stand and prove there is a “God without a shadow of doubt. How can I do that, well its really quite simple. You see I’ll pray for you and that God will touch each and everyone of you with the Love of our creator, like it or not, believe it or not. It will happen to each and every one of you and you will be brought to your knees and believe and will feel the Love of God. Why because I have FAITH in Payer and that my dear atheists has unlimited power more power then anything that any human could ever dream to do. So be it! Consider it done and all who believe will now pray for your conversion. Thank you Father for leading me to this site. We ask that our payers be answered in your name Jesus Christ.
Amen

i am a teen atheist and i just have one quote for you to think about: “I contend we are both atheists, I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.” -Stephen f. Roberts
In first reading that quote i wonder why you ppl hate us soo much. we simply dont believe. its not a serious situation. LEAVE US ALONE!!! we’re not doing anything to harm you. It’s our business and you’re the ones statring a problem not us. We’re not trying to push our beliefs down your throats like you people down with us and everyone else. We’re happy, normal people who just want to live our lives not believing in a lie.

Instead of praying why can’t you just accept her for being an atheist.
Do you think she cares if you do not? You expect her to respect you even though she doesn’t hold your faith, right? You need to realize that just as you think atheism is wrong she thinks religion is irrational and nothing but fairy tales.
Where do you get the arrogance to assume that it is you but not her who has the right to judge?

Why do you take this girl’s comments out of context and maker her sound like some simple rebellious teenager? I don’t believe doing this serves your purpose but I suppose you could get away with this since no one who frequently happens upon this site will visit the blog. Also it’s highly annoying when you proclaim us to be lost but God still loves us. You imply she is morally incorrect and in the wrong for not believing in a god. Why? You say the Devil is even at work here! I am an atheist and am part of various organizations that help the poor, sick and homeless. That doesn’t seem like the work of the Devil to me. I try to give back to the community and support it any way I can. You also imply that gays and lesbians are also imoral. Wouldn’t the kind and loving God you preach so adamantly about support ALL of his “children”? So are good people that are atheists, homosexuals or Pro-Choice going to rot in Hell? Please, YOU think about what you are saying.
