Abortion King and Devil’s Disciple, Henry Morgentaler has been given the Order of Canada for his: “commitment to increased health care options for women, his determined efforts to influence Canadian public policy and his leadership in humanist and civil liberties organizations,”
My mind boggles! Regardless of what your politics or beliefs are on this issue, the idea that someone who has such controversial medical ethics can be designated the recipient of such a prestigious appointment is ludicrous.
What’s next, the Nobel Prize to Kevorkian?
The Order of Canada was instituted by Queen Elizabeth II on April 17, 1967, under the advisement of Lester B. Pearson. It was officially launched on July 1, 1967, during the celebration of the Dominion of Canada 100 years earlier.
There are three levels of appointment:
Companion (this is the designation “Dr.” M is to receive)
Officer
Member
Not unlike Pontius Pilate, Stephen Harper has effectively washed his hands of the decision to honour Morgentaler with the award issuing this statement:
“The Conservative government is not involved in either deliberations or decisions with respect to which individuals are appointed to the Order of Canada,” said Dimitri Soudas, a spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Ironically, the Order of Canada purports to “recognize a lifetime of outstanding achievement and dedication to community”.
Most Rev. Thomas Collins, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Toronto, said the Order of Canada will be “debased” if Morgentaler receives this award. He went on to compare the outstanding life-affirming contribution of previous recipients Banting and Best and “other medical heroes who selflessly brought healing where there was disease and suffering. “Now,” he said, ” it honours with the Order of Canada a medical man who has brought not healing, but the destruction of the defenceless and immeasurable grief.”
The Sovereign’s badge that Morgentaler will now be appearing in at all pro-abortion propaganda pitches looks like this:
However, this one might be more appropriate::
(He’s in good company with some other so-called “doctors” of a different era.)
Note: a number of people have been citing “Godwin’s Law” to me claiming that my use of the swastika
is in fact negating my argument. How then should I express it? There are no other doctors in history that I can think of who performed such heinous acts. It is not so much that they were Nazis, but that they were medical men who chose to use their talents in a way that was contrary to the original Hippocratic Oath. I’m open to suggestion if anyone wants to present me with an alternative.
I suspect Henry Morgentaler will not be reading The Bible any time soon. That’s too bad. He might do well to heed the words of Mark 10:31: “Many that are first will be last, and the last first.”
Mind you, I don’t really think he’ll even get to the door, do you?

You might have more credibility if...
You hadn’t awarded a Nazi medal to a Holocaust survivor. My father’s a Catholic and I grew up around Catholics, I have respect for your position, but I hope you realize that comparing someone to a Nazi is usually just a way to take an argument to an extreme end, so that there isn’t a way to have a civil discussion with the other side anymore.
By the way your blog is nice, I never would’ve found it if I hadn’t done a search for “morgenthaler order of canada”.

While I appreciate your view, my use of the swastika is meant to illustrate the irony of the situation. It is a form of genocide that is being perpetuated. One would think that a Holocaust survivor would feel differently about the sanctity of human life, not seek to eradicate a portion of it.

Does it burn you that one other person considered for the award is the first priest to marry a gay couple? The man should get the medal. It’s a very low-brow, childish move to use the Swastika. As a religious person, I would think you shouldn’t be so full of bitterness and hate, but here we have it. Let the man have his medal, and let it go. It would be far better for your health.

You know, I like your blog, respect your opinions and often agree with you. This is why it is such a shame that this post was just build up to a Godwin’s Law punch line. Which, sadly, is generally a tool of imbeciles and the ignorant.

Pedro, I’m happy that as someone who has read this blog more than once, you have been moved to comment.
Let me assure you, that I did not have a pre-conceived notion of posting the swastika badge. As I discovered the Sovereign’s badge, it occurred to me how the idea of wearing a medal should mean something positive and good. The fact that Morgenthaler will be sporting this one that represents the height of service to community, just galls me.
If you can suggest another way to illustrate this, I’m open to it.

Thank you for both your research and well spoken opinion. Pregnancy is not a disease that he has cured. Rather instead what he does has become big business. Should he have found a way through education or otherwise for the need for abortion to diminish to the point that his work would no longer be needed due to lack of demand…now perhaps there would be something to celebrate and award. I’m sure no one out there wakes up with the decision to get pregnant just for the purpose of aborting. If he considers abortion nothing more than the removal of unwanted cells like the removal of an appendix than why not give this award to doctors who have performed more appendectomies and perhaps saved lives in the process? This is a sad state that Canada is in if he is the best person selected for this award.

Prime Minister Harper can be e-mailed at the following address: pm@pm.gc.ca
Please write to him over this Morganthaler award matter and request that it be revoked. However since he is playing a Pontius Pilate despite being the leader of Canada, does anyone know the email addres for Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean?

He is a barbarian, abject, vile, uncivilized,
with no respect to life and GOD.
I wonder what the Jewish community thinks of
him. I hope he is considered a total disgrace.

A latecomer to this thread, I just want to voice my approval of your choice of the swastika. The Nazis were not unique in their evil. And even Jews and Holocaust survivors can sin and annihilate others.
Which is what abortion does. Annihalte human beings. It’s a modern holocaust. One based in philosophical (biological and medical) incoherence, and lies. Which is exactly the same as the Nazis. They committed massive evil rooted in their false, perverted anthropology.
All you who cannot see that are just as blind as the Germans who followed or failed to resist Hitler in 1933 – 1939. I sense our own 1945 may be coming, soon.
For God is not scorned and mocked. There have been more than a few Jews who have reminded of this fact. I pray Dr. Morganthaler remember them, before it is too late.
Thanks Beatasum for this post.
